PROFIBUS DP I/O is utilized for the data exchange between the PLC and these I/O modules (Field Devices). In order for this communication to occur, each I/O module on each network must have specific parameters which are defined in the PLC hardware configuration. At a minimum, each device on the network contains the Device name and Profibus Address. The I/O modules delivered in their original factory state do not have the Profibus Address or Terminating Resistor state set. When a new factory state I/O module is installed, these machine specific Profibus Addresses and Terminating Resistor states must be set either by referring to the original I/O modules or the electrical control drawings.
