AMTEC, Automotive Manufacturers Technical Education Collaborative, has brought together community and technical colleges and industry partners to better prepare and develop highly skilled maintenance technicians. ITS had many roles in this group effort, first ITS was instrumental in the design and implementation of a custom AMTEC Manufacturing System Simulator, a high-tech training aid utilizing state-of-art electronics, controls, robotics and automation, and safety features. We worked with AMTEC, the industry partners, educators, and engineering manufactures to help ensure the Simulator met the needs of the students who would be training on it. Also, our staff further supported the collaboration by providing high end 2D and 3D graphics and animations to reinforce the online classroom contextual experience. Our designers created new or improved on existing material, raising the standards in automotive training. AMTEC is supported by a National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Technology Education (ATE) Program Grant (0903193).
As part of AMTEC's ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, ITS is helping in the implementation of the course content using SoftChalk Cloud, AMTEC's eLearning content authoring platform of choice. ITS staff is working closely with industry SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to insert new and revised content as needed. Our commitment to the effort has helped AMTEC realize their goal of creating world class learning modules.
ITS has further assisted AMTEC in lesson development and enhancement by using our expertise in mechanical engineering and manufacturing. Our staff provided detailed and accurate content in mechanical drive systems as well as assessments and quizzes. We are not only a service provider to AMTEC but a partner in their effort to prepare companies and employees in this changing time.
